HOOPS MIDWEST is an organization founded by Mike Edwards and Steve Reith as a way to promote youth basketball in the southwest Missouri area. While following their own children’s teams and dreams around the country through grade school, junior high and high school, they both fell in love with the game and chose to continue the dream by creating HOOPS MIDWEST.
It is our intent to group teams of similar skills together. In order to achieve this goal, we would like the coaches to assist us by rating your team skills. Please choose one of the following skill levels for your team.
- Competitive–These teams typically travel to tournaments such as AAU, MAYB, USJN etc an have several players that are of “above average” skill levels for their age.
- Recreational– These teams typically play in leagues such as The Y, Boys Club, or The Courts Rec League. Most of the players are of average skill levels and perhaps a few are beginning to show above average skills from time to time.
- Beginners– These teams are typically in their first or second year of playing organized basketball and are just beginning to demonstrate the fundamental skills of the sport. Enforcement of rules for these teams will be “loose” and the intent will be to help teach the players when appropriate.
